Information for Newcomers to Advent – St. Nicholas
Gathering as a Multi-Denominational Christian Community of Faith

-   A copy of our brochure is available on the table as you enter the church, to help you   
      have an idea about who we are as a Christian community.

-   We welcome all children to join with their parents in our worship. On the bench at    
the entrance to the church you will find activity bags for the children’s use during the worship service. There is also child-care available downstairs during the Sunday morning service and activities, should you need it. The child-care person’s name is Margarita and do feel free to go downstairs before the service to introduce yourself and your child, or children, and leave your child in her care.

-   From September through May, we offer Sunday School for children after the
refreshments following the Sunday morning service. The children’s Sunday School is from 10:15 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., beginning with one class for 2 to 7 year olds. You will find the Sunday School room and teacher downstairs after the service.

-   We also offer an Adult Discussion and Personal Sharing group at the same time as    
the children’s Sunday School. Everyone is welcome.

-   Because our congregation is mostly made up of people living outside their home  
countries and therefore is transitional in character, we want you to know that a formal membership with Advent – St. Nicholas is not required. Do feel free to participate in any way that interests you, even if you are only here for a short period of time. Our brochure lists some of the social ministries the congregation is involved with and our worship leader will be only too happy to fill you in on other activities taking place in the church community.

-   As explained in our order of service on communion Sundays, you are warmly
invited to participate no matter what your church affiliation may be. Whether receiving communion or not, you are urged to join in gathering around the communion table.
